To promote Telangana culture not just among Telugu community but also among the local British residents is the foremost task taken up the Telegana Association of United Kingdom (TAUK). Taking forward this task, the Hindu festival of Bonalu was organised in London where 800 NRIs gathered to celebrate the festival of Bonalu, organised by the Telangana Association of United Kingdom (TAUK).
Indian Origin local MPS Virendra Sharma, Seema Malhotra, Ruth Cadbury, Hounslow Deputy Mayor Raghwinder Siddhu and Indian High Commission to UK representative Prem Jeet were part of the celebrations held in West London where the traditional rituals of women carrying ‘Bonam’ which is offered to Gods with a preparation of rice cooked with milk and jiggery carried in an earthen vessel which is decorated with Neem leaves, turmeric, vermilion and a lit lamp on top.
Local British residents took part in the festivities by dancing along the traditional folk Potharaju dance of Telangana.

NRI women proudly showcased the ‘Bonam’ across the streets of London promoting Indian culture and especially Telangana culture by involving local British residents.
TAUK president Pavitra Kandi in her inauguration speech said their organisation was committed to promoting Telangana culture on a global platform. TAUK founder Anil Kurmcahalam was also present on the occasion and appealed for support for handloom weavers and other traditional artisans.
