Signs of normalcy were evident in Jammu and Kashmir, as people offered their Friday prayers peacefully in the mosques. Section 144 were imposed a few days back when the BJP-led government had announced the scrapping of Article 370 and the state was bifurcated into Union territories. Yesterday, the prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC were withdrawn in Kathua and Samba districts on Friday while deputy commissioner, Jammu, has ordered withdrawing restrictions within municipal limits of Jammu district from Saturday. A few hours of relaxation for the local people were also permitted.
Amid the tight security and vigil, the markets too were open in a few places and no mishap was reported. Even government offices had started functioning since yesterday. Even after five days, the mobile and internet services have not been resumed in the valley. All modes of transport too had become functional for people with trains, aircraft and buses plying in Jammu.
“The situation in Jammu is normal and the supply of essential commodities has been restored in Rajouri and Poonch. The supply of essential commodities, including vegetables, poultry, fruit, fuel, medicines, are moving to Kashmir as per routine.” said a security personnel.
