Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was seen spotted sporting a ‘Indian kurta’ in his engagement ceremony to Indian-origin girlfriend Vini Raman in Melbourne on Sunday.
Vini Raman, a Melbourne-based pharmacist, shared photos from their engagement. Glenn Maxwell was seen posing with their families while sporting a green kurta.
“Last night we celebrated our Indian engagement and I gave @gmaxi_32 a little teaser of what the wedding will be like. Shout out to both of our incredible families & all our friends who came to celebrate with us on such short notice – we are so grateful to be surrounded by some pretty amazing people,” Vini Raman wrote on Instagram.
“Still can’t believe I’m lucky enough to have @gmaxi_32 + an amazing second family who have been so welcoming,” she added.
Glenn Maxwell and Vini Raman have been dating for over 2 years now. In February, the couple announced engagement via Instagram posts.
Photos of the couple emerged on social media first in 2017. Notably, Maxwell was spotted with his partner Raman at the Australian Cricket Awards in 2019.
Glenn Maxwell has not played any form of competitive cricket since the Big Bash League final in February. The all-rounder had made himself available for the ODI series against South Africa in February-March but he was not picked for the series.
Earlier on Tuesday, New South Wales were named Australia’s Sheffield Shield champions for the first time in six years after the competition’s final was called of due to the putbreak of novel coronavirus.
Cricket Australia (CA) had already cancelled the last round of Australia’s domestic first class season, leaving NSW top of the standings.
CA also recommended that all cricket played “within the community” is ceased for the remainder of the 2019/20 season in response to the pandemic.
