The total number of positive novel coronavirus cases has reached 11 in Karnataka, the state which registered the first death of a Covid-19 patient in India earlier this month.
The 11th patient is a 67-year-old woman who had come back from the United States via Goa on March 9. A resident of Bengaluru, the woman has been under a strict home quarantine since her arrival, an official communication said.
The woman has a history of a kidney ailment.
On March 16, the patient was shifted to a designated isolation hospital. The administration has identified 21 high-risk contacts, including five family members. All 21 people have been put under strict home quarantine. Contact tracing of secondary contacts in under progress for all the cases, Karnataka health department said in a media communique.
Till date 1,17,306 passengers have been screened in Karnataka at Bengaluru airport, Mangaluru airport, and Mangaluru and Karwar seaports.
