The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on late Sunday night announced its candidate for the lone Rajya Sabha constituency in Arunachal Pradesh for the biennial election to the Upper House of the Parliament.
The party has fielded Nabam Rebia who is a Minister in the northeastern state’s Pema Khandu-led government. Rebia has also been a member of Rajya Sabha.
The Arunachal Pradesh Urban Development Minister was in the Congress nearly four years ago.
In 2016, Rebia parted ways with the Congress along with several MLAs and formed a new party for some time, and later joined the BJP.
His name was finalised during the BJP Central Election Committee meeting following which the party announced the ticket for Rebia late on Sunday night.
