Amar Dubey, who is a history-sheeter and a wanted criminal, was killed in an encounter by the Uttar Pradesh’s Special Task Force (STF) early on Wednesday morning.
Amar Dubey was also an accused in the Kanpur encounter case in which eight cops were killed by the Vikas Dubey gang.
Earlier, sources revealed that Vikas Dubey, responsible for the murder of eight policemen, was hiding in a hotel on the Delhi-Mathura highway. He was allegedly staying at a hotel in Faridabad’s Badhkal Chowk area.
The police, however, reportedly arrested one of his accomplices who confirmed that Vikas Dubey was with him at the Faridabad hotel.
The Uttar Pradesh Police had formed at least 20 dedicated teams with a total of 200 police personnel across the state to track down Vikas Dubey. Vikas Dubey was involved in the killing of eight policemen, including a DSP, in Bikru village– located almost 45 kilometres from the district headquarters of Kanpur. An encounter had ensued on the night of July 3 where a police team that had gone to arrest Dubey were killed in an ambush.
