Hollywood star Dwayne Johnson has revealed he and his family had contracted coronavirus about two-and-a-half weeks ago, despite following a “disciplined” health routine.
The professional wrestler-turned-actor, who made the announcement on Instagram, also said they were “no longer contagious”.
Johnson, 48, said he, his wife Lauren, 35, and their daughters Jasmine (four) and Tiana (two) caught the disease from “very close family friends”.
“We’re on the opposite end of it and not contagious. Thank God, we’re healthy,” he said during a video posted on Wednesday.
“I can tell you that this has been one among the foremost challenging and difficult things we’ve ever had to endure as a family,” he added.
Johnson, who as ‘The Rock’ had an extended wrestling career within the WWE before heading to Hollywood, said testing positive for COVID-19 is “much different than overcoming nasty injuries, or being evicted or maybe being broke, which I even have been quite a couple of times”.
“My favorite priority is to always protect my family. We are counting our blessings immediately because we’re cognizant that it is not always the case that you simply get on the opposite end of Covid-19 stronger and healthier,” he said.
The actor, known for actioners like “The Scorpion King”, “Journey” films, and “Jumanji” franchise, also urged people to wear masks.
“(Wearing a mask) has nothing to try to to with politics. Wear your mask. it’s a fact. And it’s the proper thing to try to to ,” said Johnson.
