More facts are coming up with the CCTV footage that was recovered from the industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s house. he man who had positioned an explosive-charged SUV outside of Mukesh Ambani’s residence in Mumbai was caught on the CCTV. The man wearing the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is accused of having parked the SUV with explosive gelatin sticks outside of Mukesh Ambani’s ‘Antilia’ residence in Mumbai in the last week of February.
The latest CCTV grab shows that a suspect with a vehicle outside Mukesh Ambani’s house attired in a PPE kit. This appeared to be a deliberate attempt to hide his identity.
The suspect was seen with the vehicle, which is a Scorpio, with 20 gelatin sticks inside, was found near Antilia, Ambani’s house in Mumbai, on February 25. Police said the vehicle was stolen from Airoli-Mulund Bridge on February 18. The mystery deepened when Mansukh Hiren, the man who used the SUV before it was stolen, was found dead.
Around 2.5 kilograms of 20 gelatin sticks were found inside the Mahindra Scorpio SUV belonging to a Thane resident who was found dead last week in Thane creek. Other than the Gelatin sticks, a threat letter and few number plates were found inside the SUV.
Following the seizure of the vehicle, the officials from the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police scanned the CCTVs and zeroed-in on an Innova which was seen in the area during the time the SUV was left outside Mukesh Ambani’s residence. The CCTV footage showed the man leaving the scene in the Innova after parking the SUV outside Antilia.
On Monday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the case.
A spokesperson of the NIA said in a brief statement that the anti-terror agency had taken over the probe following orders from the Union Home Ministry and was in the process of re-registering the case being investigated by Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad and Crime Branch.
Besides the recovery of the vehicle, the central anti-terror agency will also probe the mysterious death of Mansukh Hiren.
