Hindus in Delhi’s Harijan basti were attacked by mob led by Islamists after a Hindu man married a girl from the Muslim community. The incident occurred on Saturday after a media person named Rahul Upadhyay.
According to information, the rioting mob entered the Dalit basti and assaulted the residents with sticks and swords. Following the Saturday night incident, there is tremendous communal tension in the region.
The mob was enraged when a Muslim girl chose to marry a man from the Dalit community on her own. According to the nearby, the two married in secret, but the woman’s family recently fixed her marriage with someone else.
Following that, the girl walked to the local police station to register her statement and then left with the Dalit man. The Hindu man’s family is said to have left the area to live with relatives elsewhere. When the Islamist mob became aware of the situation, they raided the Dalit neighbourhood.
According to Jagran, there is a large police presence in the area. According to Jagran’s sources, the police have made five arrests in the case.
