A complaint has been filed against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee before a court in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, amid the high-stakes political battle raging in the state ahead of the assembly elections. Miffed by the TMC chief’s recent disparaging remark about Biharis while campaigning for assembly elections, advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha filed a complaint with the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court in Muzaffarpur.
Advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha pleaded before the court that the police is directed to lodge an FIR against Banerjee. Ojha has sought evoking IPC sections 147 and 148 (rioting), 295 and 295(A) (deliberate insult) and 511 (attempt to commit an offence).
The matter is likely to come up for hearing on April 8.
During her election campaign in Nandigram, speaking to the media, Banerjee accused the BJP of bringing ‘goons from other states like UP and Bihar’ for the Nandigram poll violence. She also called Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar to express her displeasure with the violence and urged him to take control of the situation in the state. The West Bengal Chief Minister went on to say that she had complained to the Election Commission and the Home Minister about the situation.
While the people of Nandigram were out voting today, a lot happened in the constituency. Mamata Banerjee went to a polling booth in Nandigram’s Gokul Nagar neighborhood. This irritated the locals, who turned out in large numbers to protest Mamata Banerjee’s tyranny. Hundreds of protestors chanted “Jai Shree Ram” and demanded that Mamata leave the premises. It was after this incident, Mamata Banerjee accused BJP of calling their ‘goons from other states’ to create ruckus in West Bengal.
