Anti-Terrorist Squad – ATS arrested two Al Qaeda terrorists in Lucknow today. Talking to the media, the state’s Additional Director General, Law and Order, Prashant Kumar told that Uttar Pradesh ATS has exposed a big terrorist network. The arrested terrorists have been identified as Minhaj Ahmed and Masiruddin, he said. He is associated with the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind faction of Al-Qaeda. A large number of weapons and explosives have also been recovered from them.
Mr Kumar said that clues of terrorist activities were found from Peshawar in Quetta on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Minhaj and Masiruddin were playing a big role in these activities. His associates in Lucknow and Kanpur were also involved in this. In this regard, investigation is being done across the state. ATS has come to know of deep terror conspiracy.
Additional Director General, Law and Order said that before August 15, a conspiracy was hatched to attack Lucknow and other places in the state. High alert has been sounded in Lucknow and adjoining districts following the arrest of terrorists and recovery of huge quantity of explosives. The interrogation of the arrested terrorists is on.
