India beat England by seven wickets in the first warm-up match of the Men’s Twenty20 Cricket World Cup in Dubai last night.
Batting first, England scored 188 runs for five wickets. Jonny Bairstow scored 49 off 36 balls while Moeen Ali remained unbeaten on 43 off 20 balls. Mohammed Shami took three wickets for India.
India achieved the target of victory for three wickets with six balls to spare. Ishaan Kishan scored 70 and K.L. Rahul scored 51 runs.
India’s second warm-up match will be against Australia. The match will be played in Dubai itself tomorrow evening at 3.30 pm IST.
The Twenty-Twenty World Cup was earlier to be held in India, but was later shifted to the United Arab Emirates and Oman. But the Board of Control for Cricket in India remained the host.
The top four teams from the qualifiers will join India, West Indies, Australia, South Africa, Afghanistan, Pakistan, England and New Zealand for the Super 12 stage. Super 12 phase will start from 23rd of this month.
