Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat will be cremated tomorrow at Delhi Cantonment. His mortal remains are likely to reach the national capital by plane this evening. Earlier today, a tribute meeting will be held at the Madras Regimental Center in Wellington.
After this the mortal remains of General Rawat and his wife will be brought to Delhi. Tomorrow the body will be brought to General Rawat’s residence in New Delhi where people can pay their respects from 11 am to 2 pm.
The Indian Air Force has ordered an inquiry into the accident. Group Captain Varun Singh, the only survivor of the accident, is undergoing treatment at the Military Hospital in Wellington.
The country’s first Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat was the Chief of Army Staff from 31 December 2016 to 31 December 2019.
