Janmashtami, the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, is being celebrated with reverence and faith in different parts of the country today. Devotees are constantly reaching the temples to have darshan and worship of Lord Krishna.
Thousands of temples, including the Bakebihari Temple, Prem Mandir, ISKCON Temple and Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple in Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Shri Krishna, have been elegantly decorated.
President Draupadi Murmu said in her message that the life and teachings of Lord Krishna included the message of welfare and virtue. He said that Lord Krishna preached Nishkaam Karma and followed the path of Dharma and showed the way to attain the Absolute Truth. Janmashtami has special spiritual significance. It strengthens our faith in the victory of Dharma over Adharma.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his greetings on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.
