A case has been registered against Madhya Pradesh Congress MLA and former state minister Umang Singhar for allegedly raping and torturing a 38-year-old woman. Dhar District Superintendent of Police Aditya Pratap Singh said that the case was registered at Naogaon police station on Sunday evening on the complaint of the 38-year-old victim. The woman was reportedly living with Singhar as his wife.
During this, Singhar had a physical relationship with her and refused to marry her. When she talked about complaining about it, Singhar married the woman on March 16, 2022 at her residence in Bhopal and then started torturing her. The woman alleges that she was unnaturalised, while Singhar had also talked about making videos of her and showing them to friends. The woman also said that Umang Singhar tried to kill her by hanging her from the balcony, then somehow she saved his life.
Home Minister Narottam Mishra released a video saying that a woman has complained of rape and assault against the former minister and Congress MLA at Naugaon police station in Dhar district. On the complaint of the woman, the police have registered a case. BJP leader Shahzad Poonawala also targeted and said that Priyanka Vadra should also take action in this matter.
