PT Usha has been elected unopposed as the president of the Indian Olympic Association. She was the only candidate in the presidential election to be held in December. Law Minister Kiren Rijiju has congratulated him.
PT Usha is the first woman to become the president of the Indian Olympic Association in its 95-year history. Also, she is the first Olympian and international medalist to reach this position. Earlier this year, he was also nominated as a member of the Rajya Sabha.
PT Usha was elected president unopposed in this election. He had filed nomination for the post of Speaker on 27 November. Along with him, 14 more people from his team had filed nominations. The IOA was holding elections for a president, a senior vice-president, two vice-presidents (a man and a woman), a treasurer, two joint secretaries (a man and a woman) and executive members.
