The Indian Navy has successfully test fired an underwater target using an indigenously developed heavy weight torpedo. The Navy spokesperson has said that such a successful test from the indigenously developed heavy weight torpedo is an important achievement for the Navy and the Defense Research and Development Organisation.
The Defense Research and Development Organization was trying to develop a weapon to hit targets with precision under the surface of the water. Navy spokesperson said that the test demonstrated the Indian Navy’s commitment to be war ready in the future.
This is the second test at sea within a fortnight. Last month, the Navy successfully test-fired the advanced type of missile from the destroyer INS Mormugao. The missile named Sea Skimming attacked the target floating in the sea from below. According to the Navy, this missile is capable of hitting a distance of three hundred kilometers.
