Russia’s lunar mission failed when the spacecraft Luna-25 uncontrolled crashed on the moon. Russia’s space agency Roscosmos said today that preliminary analysis of the Luna-25 mission suggests that the spacecraft entered another orbit and crashed into the lunar surface after a discrepancy between the actual and calculated operating parameters.
Roscosmos reported that communication with Luna-25 was lost at 2:57 pm local time in Moscow. Efforts to contact it yesterday and today did not yield any results. An inter-departmental commission has been constituted, which will find out the reasons for the failure of this mission.
The Russian space agency Roscosmos has issued a statement saying that its lander destined to land on the Moon’s south pole failed to enter its orbit on Saturday due to a technical fault. The agency did not give any further details in this regard and said that the situation is being analyzed.
