She won the gold medal for India in the R-2 Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event. Following Avani, shooter Mona Agarwal also excelled by winning a bronze medal. On the second day of the Paris Paralympics, para shooter Avani Lekhara scored 249.7 in the final of the R-2 Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event and clinched the gold medal. Avani had scored 249.6 in the Tokyo Paralympics to win the gold medal. This time, she improved her score to 249.7, breaking her own Paralympic record. With this achievement, Avani has become the first Indian woman athlete to win two gold medals in the Paralympics.
In this event, South Korea’s Yunri Lee secured the second position with a score of 246.8 and won the silver medal. Meanwhile, Indian shooter Mona Agarwal achieved third place with a score of 228.7, earning the bronze medal.
