The Pakistani Army on Monday violated the ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) in the Digwar sector of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army gave an immediate and effective response to this violation. This incident has happened during the three-day visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Jammu and Kashmir.
A massive search operation has been launched in the area to rule out the possibility of infiltration. It is noteworthy that earlier on April 1, the Pakistani army had violated the ceasefire by resorting to unprovoked firing after a landmine explosion on the LoC in Poonch district. Then the Indian soldiers had responded in a “balanced and controlled manner”.
According to information, foreign terrorists are mainly active in the mountainous areas of Poonch, Rajouri, Kathua and Kishtwar districts. On March 23, an encounter broke out between the police and terrorists in Sanyal village, 4 km inside the international border in Kathua district, in which two terrorists were killed and four policemen were martyred.
According to information received, terrorists are using the high terrain of Kathua district to enter Rajouri and Poonch districts. About 4,000 specially trained para commandos of the army have been deployed in the dense forests of these areas to thwart the ‘hit-and-run’ attacks of the terrorists.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who arrived in Jammu on Sunday, while addressing the BJP MLAs, assured that the security situation in the area will return to normal soon.
