In Rajasthan, four more people were found infected with the Omicron variant of Kovid. Of these, three cases are from Sikar and one from Kota, where a person from Ukraine has been found to have symptoms of Omicron. Dr Ravi Prakash Sharma, Additional Director, Rural Health, has told that so far 17 cases have been found from Omicron in the state, out of which most of the patients have become healthy. Three infected patients have been admitted to Ajitgarh in Sikar.

Tamil Nadu’s famous Madurai Meenakshi Temple has been opened for devotees from today. The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of the state in its announcement yesterday has allowed entry to the temple with a Covid vaccination certificate. More than 40 thousand devotees visit the Meenakshi temple every day. The State Government has put up awareness messages at various places to follow the COVID guidelines.
India today launched Supersonic Missile Assisted Torpedo from Wheeler Island in Odisha. This weapon system has been developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) for the Indian Navy. It is the next generation missile which is based on stand of torpedo delivery system. The system is designed to extend the anti-submarine warfare capability beyond the conventional firepower of torpedoes. DRDO Secretary Dr G. Satheesh Reddy has also congratulated all those involved in the successful test. He said that this system will further enhance the strength of the Indian Navy and promote self-reliance of defence, expertise and capability.
The first case of Omicron has been reported in Kerala today. In Kochi, a person was found infected with this new variant of Corona. This person had reached Kerala from England via Abu Dhabi on December 6 on an Etihad Airways flight. The wife and mother of this person have also been found infected with Omicron. He said that the State Health Department is taking all necessary steps to deal with the situation as per the guidelines issued by the Central Government.

Farmers have started going from Ghazipur border in Delhi after postponing the demonstration to protest against the three agricultural laws and other issues related to it. The farmers were protesting on the borders of Delhi for almost a year. The Agriculture Act was withdrawn on the first day of the ongoing winter session of Parliament.
