Actor Ranveer Singh made his debut in the film industry with Band Baaja Baaraat almost ten years ago. At that time, no one could have predicted that the actor would go on and turn quirky and OTT style statements cool with his wacky fashion choices. But he did, and how.
From psychedelic prints and shimmery rainbow patterns to pleated skirts and monochrome suits, there is not a single sartorial statement out there that Ranveer has not tried, and nailed it quite perfectly too. Hence, it won’t be an understatement to say that Ranveer is the King of Quirk.
As the actor gets ready to ring in his 35th birthday on July 6, we decided to take a trip down memory lane and look at all the flamboyant and vivacious choices the actor made in the past few years.
When he made his debut, for the most part, Ranveer played it easy with his style preferences. However, right around the time when Ram Leela and Bajirao Mastani came into his life, Ranveer started experimenting with his looks. Basic tailored suits gave way to more eccentric choices, and of course, a slew of fun clothes in eye-catching prints.
From handlebar moustaches and quirky sunglasses to asymmetrical hemlines and free-flowing attires, Ranveer took risks for almost all his appearances in a way not many of his contemporaries were. He took the stereotypical fashion norms and gendered fashion trends and kicked them out the window. He showed the world how such out-of-the-box looks could be cool and appealing too.
Ranveer embraced androgynous fashion during the time of Bajirao Mastani. He wore pleated skirts, ghagras, belted long tops, paired bandhgala jackets with free-flowing long kurtas, sported quirky dhotis and lungis, wore puffed-sleeve embellished jackets with high-waist pants, and looked suave in every one of them.
But he did not stop at androgynous fashion. Ranveer also rocked the one-tone dressing with his flashy and OTT suits. He incorporated colours like blue, yellow and pink to this stereotypically ‘manly’ outfit and turned them into an appealing style statement.
