Amit Shah visits flood-ravaged states in Karnataka and Kerala: Death toll crosses 72

Monsoon fury has taken the death toll to 72 people in Kerala alone and many displaced in flood-hit Kerala. BJP Chief Amit Shah made a visit to the flood affected areas through the aerial survey. The Kochi airport had been shut for the last two days as the airport was flooded with water. In spite of 1.66 lakh people been evacuated to safe places, many people have been trapped in landslides in places like Wayanad and Mallapuram.
Many states in India, mostly Karnataka, Kerala and Maharastra have been ravaged by floods. Wayamad is the worst affected by floods in Kerala. Amit Shah took a review of the entire situation through an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas.

Indian army and national disaster management have been extensively carrying out rescue operations in Kerala, Karnataka and Maharastra. As many as 173 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed across the country for rescue and relief work. The rescue teams are involved in airlifting food to reach out to distressed people.

More than nine states in India have been ravaged by the fury of rains. States like Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat have had maximum loss of life and massive destruction and displaced many people.

Kochi airport is operational once again after a two day shut down due to rains and flooding.

Maharastra has faced the worst rains this year with Pune crossing a death toll of more than 40 and many displaced.  104 rescue teams belonging to various agencies have been on duty, including 182 boats, are at work in Sangli and Kolhapur.
