World Cricket on Sunday observed a nail bitingWorld Cup final in Lords while the host England lifted the cup after beating New Zealand in Super Over.
The normal match of 100 overs seen tied and both the team scored 15 runs in the super over. But hard luck for New Zealand while England won the tittle based on more boundaries scores in the match.
England were all out for 241 on the last ball of the 100 overs match, chasing Kiwi’s 241 for eight. England scored 14 in the last over of Trent Boult but Mark Wood was run out while seeking for second run that made the match tied.
Ben Stokes (84) came back for Super Over with Jos Buttlerand they added 15 runs in the Super Over bowled by Trent Boult. New Zealand added 14 off the first five balls and needed two off the last ball of Jofra Archer’s overowever Martin Guptillwas run out coming back for the second run and England becomes champion due to hitting more boundaries on the day.

England three times runners up had bowled and fielded superbly to restrict 2015 runners up New Zealand to 241-8. Liam Plunkett and Chris Woakes each took three wickets. Henry Nicholls scored 55 from Kiwi side and Tom Latham scored 47 without made themselves comfortable.
But as Lords, the field has world’s biggest outfield, the score was challenging.
And England slumped to 86/4 before Stokes and Buttler put on 110 to set up the amazing finale.
