On Tuesday, PM Modi launched the U-WIN portal to promote digitization in healthcare. The launch of the U-WIN portal was hailed as historic by Union Health Minister JP Nadda.
He tweeted that it was a historic step towards taking digitization in healthcare forward. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the U-WIN portal, merging health and technology to benefit pregnant women and infants. This fully digital platform streamlines the immunization process, ensuring timely administration of life-saving vaccines for 12 vaccine-preventable diseases for pregnant women and children (from birth to 16 years).
The Union Health Minister said that PM Modi also introduced a dedicated portal for associated healthcare professionals and institutions, which acts as a centralized database to manage and verify existing healthcare professionals and institutions across India.
U-WIN stands for Universal Immunization Program. This is a portal to track the immunization program. Just as the CoWIN app was brought in to track COVID-19 vaccination, several vaccines are given to protect against various diseases. The U-WIN portal has been launched to track that vaccination. With the help of the U-WIN app, a centralized digital record will be created, which will keep a record of the vaccination of children and pregnant women.
