Triple Talq Crusader Ishrat Jahan faces life threat for attending Hanuman Chalisa recital

Days after she attended a Hanuman Chalisa recital function near her house, Kolkata’s BJP leader Ishrat Jahan has claimed she is facing death threats. She has been a triple talaq crusader as well.

On the day when she attended the function organised by Hindus, she was gheraoed by an agitated mob and she was ousted from her rented accommodation along with her only son.

She was hurled abuses as well and questioned if she was Muslim or not.

In view of the developments, she was compelled to file a police complaint against the atrocity faced by her.

In her complaint, the first petitioner of triple talaq alleged that she was harassed by her own relatives. Her brother-in-law and her community members let out stream of invective curses at her and forced her to vacate her house for attending a recital of hanuman chalisa organised by BJP supporters in Howrah Market.

Ishrat Jahan further claimed that her life was in danger because while she was returning home from her son’s school on Wednesday she witnessed hundreds of locals of Golabari area  surrounded and intimidated her for attending the recital.

She also sought protection from the police through the written complaint.

An officer at the Golabari police station said; “We have started an inquiry into the complaint and necessary action will be taken.”

In her complaint Jahan stated, “I wish to say that we are living in a secular country and it is our democratic right to take part in any holy festival. I did my duty as a good citizen of my country. I am a secular person. However, I am facing life threats from my family members due to the same.”
