Home Minister Amit Shah held a high-level meeting today to review the security situation in Chhattisgarh following the killing of 22 security personnel by Maoists in the state.
The meeting was attended by Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Intelligence Bureau Director Arvind Kumar, and senior officials from the home ministry and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
According to a ministry official, the home minister met to review the security situation in Chhattisgarh.
On Saturday, Maoists killed at least 22 security personnel and five more bodies were recovered from the site. Amit Shah has spoken to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and taken stock of the situation in the state.
The dead include personnel from the elite CoBRA unit of the CRPF, the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) of Chhattisgarh.
Following the incident, Mr Shah cut short his campaigning in Assam and returned to Delhi.
