Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday presented the first budget of the newly elected BJP government in the capital. Describing the Budget 2025-26 as historic, the Chief Minister announced a budget of Rs 1 lakh crore, the biggest budget in the history of the national capital. Presenting the budget in the Assembly, CM Rekha Gupta said that this is a historic day as this is no ordinary budget. The people of Delhi and the country are watching how the government elected by the people with a historic mandate will present its first budget.
The Chief Minister, while listing the failures of the previous government, said that this budget is 31.5 percent more than last year. She said that the previous government has worked like termites for Delhi’s economy. Delhi Jal Board, DTC and many other government institutions are running in losses. CM Rekha Gupta called the situation a challenge for the new government.
This budget will open new avenues for the overall development of Delhi and strengthen the possibilities of progress in every sector. This budget will give a new dimension to education, health, transport and infrastructure. The Chief Minister said that this budget is based on the principles of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and also recalled the resolve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’.
The BJP government is presenting the budget 2025-26 after 26 years. The budget will be discussed in detail in the assembly on March 26 and voting will take place after the debate on the budget on March 27. The Delhi government has received more than 10 thousand suggestions from the public on the budget through email and WhatsApp.
