Police in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir recovered about 15 kg of IED-like material in a container in Basantgarh area of Udhampur district. Police seized 400 grams of RDX, seven point six-two mm. Seven cartridges, five detonators, a coded sheet, a letter pad page of banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba have also been recovered.
The police have also detained a suspicious person in this connection. The Sub-Divisional Police Officer-SDPO of Ramnagar said that the Explosive and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act-UAPA has been implemented in Police Station Basantgarh. An FIR has been registered under the Act. The inspection of the matter is going on.
So far this year, more than 60 cases of IED attacks or delivery of arms to terrorists have been reported in all the districts of Jammu division, which is three times more than last year. Attempts to attack on a large scale by sending or planting IEDs from across the border are continuously taking place in the Jammu division from the interior areas to the border.
