Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar was asked to explain a well-circulated video shot at his home in July last year during a party in which social media users were supposed to be using drugs, the national central bank sources said Thursday night. The video, which also shows a number of top stars, is being investigated as part of the anti-drug agency’s investigation into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June.
In September, Karan Johar made a public statement in connection with that video saying that drug-related reports “These slanderous and malicious statements, news articles and news clippings have unnecessarily subjected me, my family, and my colleagues, and Dharma Productions, to hatred, contempt and ridicule,” he said.
“I would like to unequivocally once again state that I do not consume narcotics and I do not promote or encourage consumption of any such substance,” the director-producer added.
Johar also said that he did not personally know that two people-Anubhav Chopra and Kshitij Prasad-were being investigated and dismissed as “baseless” media reports that described them as his “aides”
