After 13 former students of a particular religious school have been found to have joined terror groups in Kashmir Valley, the school has come under scrutiny. Investigating agencies have found that the religious schools’ alumni have been found to have joined the terrorist groups.
The former students of the school who joined terror ranks include Sajjad Bhat who was an accused in the 14 February 2019’s suicide attack on the CRPF convoy in Pulwama which had dastardly led to the demise of 40 personnel.
It also gains significance as the said school had also attracted outstation students from States of Uttar Pradesh, Kerala and Telangana in the past. However, the count of such students had come down to nought following the abrogation of Article 370.
Also, in Kashmir Valley, the school has attracted students from areas like Pulwama, Kulgam and Anantnag which are all considered terrorism hotbeds by the intelligence agencies. These areas are also known for the recruitment of locals into different terror outfits. The majority of students and teachers however hail from Pulwama and Kulgam.
It should also be noted that apart from 13 former students of the school having found to have joined terror ranks, hundreds of others have also been discovered to have served as over-ground workers for many terror outfits.
