Parliament has passed the Agriculture Laws Repeal Bill 2021. It was approved by Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on the first day of winter session yesterday. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar introduced a bill to withdraw all three agriculture laws in the Lok Sabha amidst the noise of the opposition. It was passed in Lok Sabha without debate.
These three laws to be repealed include Farmers Empowerment and Protection Act 2020 related to price assurance and agricultural service agreement; Agricultural Produce, Trade and Commerce Promotion and Facilitation Act 2020; Essential Commodities Amendment Act 2020.
Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that the government had implemented all the three agricultural laws in the interest of farmers, but the opposition is adopting double standards in this regard. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced to withdraw the law with an open heart.
Shri Tomar said that the procurement of crops at Minimum Support Price- MSP has doubled as compared to the year 2014. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, procurement of pulses, oilseeds and cotton was started at MSP.
Earlier in the Lok Sabha, the newly elected members of Mandi and Khandwa constituencies of Himachal Pradesh were administered oath and tributes were paid to the eight members who passed away recently.
