Amarnath Yatra has been resumed from today morning. It was postponed after a cloudburst near the Amarnath cave. A new batch of pilgrims left from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu for Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam. The administration dispatched a batch of pilgrims this morning from Nunwan base camp on their way to Pahalgam. The journey via Baltal route has not started yet. However, helicopter service is available on both Baltal and Pahalgam routes.
Manoj Sinha visited Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam yesterday. He interacted with the passengers staying there and reviewed the health facilities and langar arrangements. Meanwhile, rescue operations are underway near the Amarnath cave. People trapped under the rubble are being traced. The army is also engaged in repairing the road.
Significantly, due to the Corona epidemic, Amarnath Yatra was canceled for the last two years, but this year the Amarnath Yatra started on June 30 from Baltal Marg and Pahalgam Marg.
The search is on for the missing people in the flood that hit the Amarnath cave on Friday. The yatra had to be halted on Friday evening due to inundation caused by heavy rains near the holy cave. The yatra route was also destroyed due to the accumulation of debris up to 10 feet in front of the cave.
