Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Secretary General and Rajya Sabha MP, Dushyant Kumar Gautam said that Bhim Rao Ambedkar wanted a uniform civil code in the country and equal treatment for women. The chief of the BJP even accused the Congress of ignoring Ambedkar.
His declaration on the Unified Civil Code comes at a time when there is a need in the country for the enforcement of the same laws for all faiths. Sangh Parivar-associated groups are also increasing this demand.
Speaking to the media at Party Headquarters on Tuesday, Gautam said, “Bhim Rao Ambedkar did not want Article 370 in the world, instead he wanted a Uniform Civil Code and called for equal protection for women. The Congress was so resentful of Ambedkar that he had to wait for the non-Congress government to award him the Bharat Ratna.”
Gautam talked about programmes such as the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) implemented by the Modi government and its benefits to Dalit students. He said, “Before the governor of the BJP
Gautam said, “As the Central Government recently granted scholarships in Punjab, it was Rs 303.92 crore in 2019. But on December 18, the Punjab government took Rs 248 Crore out of the scholarship. The payment document for Rs 39 crore of this sum has not yet been found. This shows that a big scam was perpetrated when offering the scholarships.”
