All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen men resorted to indiscriminate firing last week injuring several people. One wounded person has succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
According to police, Syed Zameer (55), a former councilor of Adilabad municipality, succumbed to his bullet injuries while undergoing treatment at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad.
Last week, the petty squabble between the two sides in the cricket match turned into a big brawl, after which the president of the Asaduddin Owaisi-led district of Adilabad, MIM Farooq Ahmed, interfered and set fire to the rival party. Later, he even threatened competing gangs with a small knife. The incident took place at the Colony of Thatiguda in the town of Adilabad on the night of December 18.
Zameer was one of the three men wounded in the clashes, while the other two were Syed Mannan and Syed Motesham. The trio was wounded in a fire and knife assault by AIMIM commander Farooq Ahmed. Zameer suffered gunshot wounds in his abdomen while the other two were struck in their limbs. Mannan and Motesham were treated at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Adilabad, while Zameer was taken to Hyderabad because his condition was serious.
The police had previously lodged a complaint against the AIMIM chief under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 27/30 of the Indian Weapons Act. However, after the death of Zameer on Saturday, the police declared that they would amend the sections and file a murder case against Ahmed under Section 302 of the IPC.
The police have already cancelled Ahmed’s firearms licence and confiscated his rifle. He was arrested soon after the incident and is reportedly under a 14-day warrant. The video had gone viral on the social media.
