Assam Election 2021 Results: BJP leads with 43 seats, Congress on 16 so far

As counting begins in Assam, early trends show Official trends as per Election Commission (EC) show that BJP leading on 43 seats and its ally Asom Gana Parishad on 11. Congress is leading on 16 and its ally AIUDF on 6.

Bhartiya Janata Party earlier was leading by 30 seats and Congress by only 8 so far. An average 82.04 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the three phase election to 126 assembly constituencies in Assam.

In Assam, the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party is facing a challenge from ‘Mahajoth’ or ‘Grand Alliance’ including the Congress, AIUDF, Bodoland Peoples’ Front.

Assam Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya is currently leading in Dholai and AGP working president Keshab Mahanta is leading in Kaliabor constituency.
