In a statement, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said, “Atishi will take the oath as Chief Minister of Delhi on September 21, along with other ministers who will also be sworn in.”
Atishi, an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader who is set to become the next Chief Minister of Delhi, said on Tuesday that she is happy with the trust placed in her by outgoing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, but saddened by his resignation from the post.
Speaking to reporters, Atishi stated that she will work towards making Kejriwal the Chief Minister again after the assembly elections scheduled in the coming months. She said, “First of all, I would like to thank Delhi’s popular CM, AAP’s national convenor, and my mentor, Arvind Kejriwal. He has entrusted me with such a big responsibility and has shown faith in me. This can only happen in AAP, under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership, that a politician can become the CM of a state for the first time. I come from an ordinary family. If I were in any other party, I might not even have received an election ticket.”
At 43 years old, Atishi will become Delhi’s third woman Chief Minister, following Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dikshit. She is a prominent AAP leader and worked as an advisor during Manish Sisodia’s tenure as Education Minister. AAP leaders stated that she played a crucial role in improving the state of education in government schools in the national capital.
