The Bangladesh High Court has ordered a judicial inquiry into the violence that took place in six districts on the last day of Durga Puja on October 13 last month. In an order issued yesterday, the court has asked the judicial magistrates of Rangpur, Kumila, Chattogram, Fani, Chandpur and Nowkhali to conduct an inquiry into the communal violence and submit a report within 60 days.
The court asked the authorities concerned to explain why the inaction of the local authorities to ensure the safety of the victims should not be declared illegal.
Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momin said that all the accused related to this incident have been arrested.
