Bhupendra Patel, known as the soft-spoken face of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat, took charge of the state again on Monday. Governor Acharya Devvrat administered the oath of office to Patel as the state’s 18th chief minister at a ceremony held at the helipad ground near the new secretariat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several senior BJP leaders attended the oath ceremony.
In Gandhinagar, senior leaders Rajnath Singh, Arjun Munda and B.S. A meeting of the newly-elected Bharatiya Janata Party legislators was held in the presence of Yeddyurappa, in which Mr. Patel was elected Chief Minister.
