The BJP-JJP government has defeated Congress’ no-confidence motion in the Haryana Assembly. All Congress MLAs supported the motion of non-confidence, while BJP-JJP MLAs voted against it. The motion of no-confidence was supported by 32 members and opposed by 55.
JJP MLAs Ram Kumar Gautam and Devender Babli, who spoke against the government urging the JJP to withhold support from the BJP, also voted against the non-confidence motion. Gopal Kanda also backed the coalition and voted against the resolution.
The Assembly currently has 88 members, which means that the governing alliance required 45 votes to remain in office.
