British Prime Minister Boris Johnson won a confidence vote at a Conservative Party meeting yesterday. In the party’s parliamentary party meeting, 211 MPs voted for him while 148 voted against. The British prime minister got 59 percent of the vote, making him free from any leadership challenge in the party for the next one year.
In the year 2018, former Prime Minister Theresa May won the trust vote by 63 percent of the votes. However, he had to resign after 6 months over the Brexit impasse.
Johnson has described his victory in the trust vote as a decisive victory, but critics say his opposition has clearly weakened his leadership. Some MPs are demanding his resignation.
Boris Johnson had to face huge outrage over the parties organized during the Kovid lockdown. Some MPs are also protesting against the tax hike.
