Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar temple has taken an important decision to ban mobile phones during Bhasma Aarti. This decision has been taken in view of the increasing inappropriate behavior in the temple premises and the reels going viral on social media.
Jayant Singh Rathore, an officer of the temple’s security committee, clarified that this rule will come into effect from January 23. Devotees will have to deposit their mobiles at the temple entrance, and they will be able to get their phones back through the token number.
The main reason for this decision is the inappropriate video reels being made in the temple premises. In the past few days, many young women made reels on Bollywood songs in the temple, which caused a widespread public controversy. These activities were affecting the sacred atmosphere of the temple.
However, no clear guidelines have been given yet on mobile usage for temple priests and security personnel. Priests can still share information about Mahakal’s Shringar and Aarti on social media, so that their followers keep getting religious information.
This decision is being considered an important step towards preserving the traditional and spiritual form of the temple.
