The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided the residence of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday morning. This action is being taken at his Bhilai residence located in Raipur and Durg district. The CBI team reached the former Chief Minister’s residence in two vehicles in the early hours. According to the information, this raid is being conducted in connection with the Mahadev Satta App, coal and liquor scam, for which the state government had recommended the CBI to investigate.
The CBI has also raided the houses of Bhupesh Baghel’s advisor Vinod Verma and Bhilai MLA Devendra Yadav. Apart from this, raids are also reported at the houses of IPS officers Aarif Sheikh and Abhishek Pallav.
Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel shared information about this case on the social media platform X. He wrote that the CBI team has taken action at his residence in Raipur and Bhilai even before his Delhi visit. Bhupesh Baghel also mentioned on X that he was going to Delhi to attend the meeting of the ‘drafting committee’ constituted for the All India Congress Committee (AICC) meeting proposed on 8 and 9 April in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had raided his residence in Bhilai’s Padum Nagar area and a total of 14 locations of his associates. These actions have intensified political turmoil in the state and allegations and counter-allegations are continuing between the ruling party and the opposition on this issue.
