The new Chief Minister of Punjab, Charan Jeet Singh Channi took oath today at Raj Bhavan, Chandigarh. Governor Banwari Lal Purohit administered him the oath of office and secrecy. He was accompanied by two senior MLAs Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and OP Soni also took oath as a cabinet minister.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, State Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu, Assembly Speaker Rana KP Singh, Rajya Sabha member Ambika Soni were present on the occasion. Former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh did not attend the event.
