Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) president Chirag Paswan, who is still coping up with the grief over his father Ram Vilas Paswan’s death, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday for making arrangements for the 74-year-old Dalit leader’s last rites.
“Respected Prime Minister @narendramodi my heartfelt gratitude for your cooperation in my father’s last rites. Sir, you made all arrangements for my father’s last RITES without being asked to do so,” Chirag Paswan said in a tweet in Hindi.
Chirag Paswan further said he is going through a difficult time and added that PM Modi’s support has boosted his courage.
“As a son, I am going through a difficult time, but your support has boosted my courage and encouragement,” the LJP president said.

Ram Vilas Paswan, a veteran Dalit leader from Bihar and a Union minister died on Thursday in Delhi after a prolonged heart ailment.
On Saturday, Chirag Paswan fell unconscious after lighting his father Ram Vilas Paswan’s pyre in Patna. His last rites were performed at the Digha Ghat on the banks of Ganga in Patna.
After lighting his father’s pyre, Chirag Paswan fainted but was saved from crashing on to the ground by his cousins who had been beside him, helping him perform the rituals.

The 37-year-old lawmaker has been a picture of bereavement ever since his father breathed last at a Delhi hospital on Thursday.
Chirag Paswan, known to be a dutiful son who even played the barber for his father during the nationwide lockdown, raised a banner of revolt against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), announcing the stunning decision to go solo in the assembly polls, while spending most of his time beside Ram Vilas Paswan senior’s hospital bed.
