Congress leaders and workers also protested on the second day of the ED’s questioning of Rahul Gandhi, after which the police took several people into custody.
According to the Congress, on Tuesday, the police arrested Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, party’s organization general secretary K. C. Venugopal, Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, party leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, deputy leader Gaurav Gogoi, MP Deepender Hooda, newly elected Rajya Sabha member Imran Pratapgarhi among others were taken into custody.
Surjewala claimed, “When China forcibly occupied our country’s land and our soldiers were martyred, the country’s Prime Minister said that ‘no one has entered, no one has come’. At that time Rahul Gandhi surrounded the government on this lie and raised his voice for the martyred soldiers. That’s why there is a problem with Rahul Gandhi. Be it petrol-diesel, cooking gas, food items, he constantly raised his voice in favor of the middle class, employed, poor, small shopkeepers, small traders of the country. That’s why there is a problem with Rahul Gandhi.
He said, “Countrymen, understand this ‘chronology’. The Modi government has furiously attacked the voice of integrity by hiding behind the “Election Management Department” ED. This attack is on the fearless voice of the opposition which puts the questions of the people firmly before the government, which is raising the issues of the people fearlessly.
