CPIM leader Sitaram Yechury’s son Ashish dies of Covid-19, condolences pour in from PM Modi and others

On Thursday morning, the elder son of CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, died of Covid-19.

Sitaram Yechury tweeted . “It is with great sadness that I must inform you that my elder son, Ashish Yechury, died this morning as a result of Covid-19. I’d like to thank everyone who gave us hope and treated him, including doctors, nurses, frontline health workers, sanitation workers, and countless others who stood by us “He tweeted about it.

According to family members, Ashish Yechury, 35, tested positive for Covid-19 two weeks ago and was admitted to Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital. He had recently been recovering well from the disease, but he died at 5.30 a.m. on Thursday. Swati, his wife, survives him.

Before moving to Pune, Ashish studied at the Asian College of Journalism in Chennai and worked for several publications, including the Times of India in Delhi.

“The Polit Bureau conveys its deepest condolences to Sitaram and Indrani, his wife Swati, his sister Akhila, and all other members of the bereaved family,” the CPI(M) said in a statement.

As news of his death spread, condolences for his family poured in, including from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Our heartfelt condolences to Shri Sitaram Yechury Ji and his family on the tragic and untimely death of his son, Ashish.” “Om Shanti,” Prime Minister Modi wrote on Twitter.
