Kashmir valley seems to be submerged in snow this winter. The valley has been totally cut-off from the world due to heavy snow-fall. Many tourists have been stranded on their way back out of the valley and rescue operations are underway.
Meanwhile, tragedy stuck
sub-inspector and a woman who were killed in heavy snow in Kashmir, which destroyed more than 100 homes, mainly residential buildings.
The sub-inspector has been identified as working with the CRPF. Accumulation of heavy snow on rooftops has destroyed more than two dozen houses in the town of Srinagar. The chilling moment of the collapse of some of the buildings was caught on tape too.
Officials said that the CRPF officer stationed at Srinagar’s Hazratbal died after the shed collapsed. A woman was killed in the Trehgam region of Kupwara after falling under a snow avalanche.
Though the weather conditions changed on Wednesday afternoon, heavy snowfall over the last four days has caused considerable misery to locals. The government is working round the clock to remove the snow from the roads and restore power and water supplies.
On Tuesday, the administration ordered fuel rationing due to the closing of the Srinagar-Jammu highway.
