The death toll due to spurious liquor has risen to 83 in Bihar. Maximum 76 deaths have occurred in Saran district. Five people died in Siwan district and two in Begusarai district. Deaths due to spurious liquor are also being received in new areas of the state. 27 people have lost their eyesight. The death toll is expected to increase as 31 people are undergoing treatment in various hospitals. Of these, the condition of 14 is critical.
Hitting out at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the hooch tragedy, Union Minister Giriraj Singh said that liquor is available everywhere in the state despite prohibition.
Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Singh alleged that such incidents were taking place due to deteriorating law and order situation in the state. He said that the family members of those killed in the liquor tragedy should be given compensation.
