Arya Banerjee, who starred in Milan Luthria’s 2011 film The Dirtry Image, was found dead on December 11 at her home in Kolkata. The actress played the part of Shakeela in Vidya Balan-Starrer.
According to sources, the police had to crack open the door to her home in Kolkata and find the body of a 33-year-old actress lying in the bedroom. The police were summoned after Arya Banerjee’s domestic help had become suspicious, as she had not responded to door bells and phone calls since morning.
Remembering the late actress, Bidita Bag wrote, “Rest in peace Arya Banerjee…In my early modelling days…I shared room with her…for my very first outstation project. She was a senior and a very famous model in kolkata…She pampered me a lot during our shooting days… #AryaBanerjee.”
In another tweet, she wrote, “She was the daughter of Sitar maestro Nikhil Banerjee. A very talented girl…who used to sing and dance like a rock-star. She amazed us with her acting and dancing stint in films like LSD, Dirty picture. will miss u forever. Pleading face #aryabanerjee #DevduttaBanerjee”
Actor Anshuman Jha, also condoled the young actress’s death on Twitter and wrote, “Extremely shocked, saddened by the news of Arya Banerjee’s demise. Have only fond memories of my interactions with her during the making of LSD and its promotions. Condolences and strength to her family and loves ones.”
Apart from The Dirty Picture, Arya Banerjee had worked in Dibakar Banerjee’s Love Sex Aur Dhokha. She had also appeared in an episode of popular TV show Savdhaan India.
